Israeli military intensifies attacks in Lebanon and Gaza, causing heavy casualties and targeting civilian infrastructure.

Israeli military operations escalated significantly overnight, targeting various locations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. In a recent strike on a health authority building in Beirut, at least nine people were reported killed, according to Lebanese officials. The Israeli military confirmed it targeted around 200 sites in Lebanon during the night.

In Gaza, the situation worsened with ongoing Israeli attacks, resulting in numerous casualties. Local authorities and the Gaza Health Ministry reported that several airstrikes struck schools and residential areas, with the death toll climbing to at least 51 by Wednesday afternoon. The Health Ministry noted that 82 individuals were injured, including women and children.

The Israeli military conducted a large-scale operation in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, involving ground troop incursions and intense aerial bombardments. Reports indicated that four school buildings were bombed, with at least 17 fatalities occurring at a school near Gaza City and five at a sheltering school in Nuseirat. The military claimed, without evidence, that these schools were being utilized as Hamas command centers, a justification they have cited for previous strikes on educational facilities.

The French Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks on civilian infrastructures, highlighting the risks faced by people seeking refuge in these locations. Advocacy group Action on Armed Violence reported that Israeli explosive weapons had hit civilian sites in Gaza every three hours since the conflict began.
